"Ek masterpiece paint karna chahta hu, jise
duniya yaad rakhein"
There are always two versions of a person, the social version and the
inner self. Aapka Kirdaar aur aapki Rooh. And you will always find two kind of
people in your life, first kind who will only extract the kirdaar out of you,
the social you and the second, the people(very few) who stir the soul out of
you, the real you.
Varun had Dev, his best friend who kept reminding him that
neither is he Raja nor Ravi Varma, that after all he was a Lootera and
prospects like Art/Poetry/Music/Love were not meant for him, that Pakhi was not
meant for him and a 'confident looking but diffident within' Varun replies
"Ek din mein masterpiece banaunga, jise duniya yaad rakhegi".
And then Varun meets Pakhi, the second time he meets her, she could extract the poet out of him when he recites "Kai dino ke baad" by Baba Nagarjun alongside her. Her father who was impressed by this poetic side of Varun offered him a room in his haveli. It was not as if Varun had planned to entice them with his poetic appeal, No! It was natural, the poet in him came out naturally when he saw Pakhi reciting it. A few more meetings and Pakhi could extract the painter in him, a man who couldn't draw simple leaves could now paint a picturesque landscape. The night they made love, she extracted romanticism from a Lootera. A man whose motive was to rob the old zamindar off his wealth was now more interested if the boy and the girl in the story that Pakhi was writing were about to fall in love or not.
To demonstrate this concept Vikramaditya Motewane shows Varun's character wearing a white or a faded brown sweater whenever he was with Dev, but as soon as he meets Pakhi, he is shown wearing colours (Red sweater in the library, a hat on the picnic). It's all about who extracts your soul out of you, we do things we never thought we would in front of them, they sometimes make us think about which of the two persons we really are.
And for those who
haven't seen this beautiful movie, he did actually paint a masterpiece. ♥️
